- The National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to make India a global hub for green hydrogen production by 2030.
- The green hydrogen and its byproducts will be used as an alternative fuel for vessels and exported.
- Kandla (DPA) is one of three ports designated as green hydrogen hubs by the Central government, along with Tuticorin and Paradip.

Giga Scale Projects
- DPA allocated 3,400 acres of land to build Green H2 production facilities:
Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL): 900 acres
Larsen & Toubro (L&T): 1,900 acres
AM Green Hydrogen Pvt Ltd: 450 acres
Welspun New Energy Ltd: 150 acres - The companies are expected to produce around 5.5 million tons of Green H2 and Green Ammonia per year by 2030–31.
- The companies will source renewable energy for the green hydrogen projects. The port is also building a 300 MLD desalination plant to address the water needs of the green hydrogen units.
